Built on evidence, shaped by patients

Madglove began with a question asked: could a simple mechanical device restore functional finger extension where conventional therapy had plateaued?

Madalina Riurean built the first prototypes to find out. Twenty stroke patients tested those early designs. The results showed measurable improvement in hand dexterity. However, the more valuable finding was the gap between what rehabilitation research promised and what was actually available to patients at home.

That gap brought the work to Amsterdam. At VU Amsterdam, Madalina met the co-founders who would build the company around it: Cara, Tobi, David, and Sitah; a team spanning human movement science, physiotherapy, industrial design, and commercial strategy, drawn from five countries. Madglove was founded on a straightforward premise: rehabilitation science produces good evidence, and too little of it reaches the people it was meant for.

Today the Madglove Assist is a CE-marked Class I orthosis, developed in collaboration with VU Amsterdam and validated with clinicians and patients across Europe.
